Turn Your Kids Into Tooth-Brushing Pros!

Hey y'all! If there's one question we hear at the office often, it's this one: "How do I get my kids to brush their teeth, and brush them well?"

Trust me, we get it. William and I are dentists, and even we know that getting a kiddo to stand at the sink for two full minutes can be a real challenge. So today I want to share what we recommend to our patients, and what we actually do at home.

Why We Recommend Electric Toothbrushes for Kids

We’ve all been brushing our teeth for years (hopefully), but for kids, they’re still figuring things out. Most kids don't brush evenly, they don't use the right pressure, and they almost NEVER make it the full two minutes.

An electric toothbrush takes a lot of that guesswork out. The brush does the work of applying consistent, gentle pressure, so your little one gets an even clean every time, with no worry of scrubbing too hard in one spot and skipping another entirely.

The Brush We Love: Philips Sonicare

There are a lot of options out there, but the one we recommend is the Philips Sonicare. They've been making toothbrushes forever, and they've earned their reputation.

Their Professional Kid's Toothbrush is our favorite for the little ones. It comes with a free app and game where they get to fight "cavity bugs" right on the screen. The game highlights the exact spots that need cleaning, so brushing turns into a mission instead of a chore.

And here's the part you’ll love: parents can track brushing right in the app. No more wondering if they actually brushed or just ran the water and played around for a bit (don’t worry, we all did it as kids.)

Straight From Our House to Yours

The sonicare is the brush we use for our own son, Eli. If it can win over our kiddo, we feel pretty confident about yours!

One thing to know: this particular brush isn't available in stores. But good news: we keep some right here at the office. Next time you're in, just ask and we'll get one in your hands.

Got questions about brushing habits, toothbrushes, or anything else for your little one? Give us a call — we'd love to help y'all out!
